Italy Inspiration + Happy June!

Taking some style inspo from the beautiful city, Torino…

Torino, Italia

Hello, my loves! Happy Friday (a.k.a. Posting Day).

I hope you all are having a wonderful start of June and summer. And for my friends in high school — don’t worry, you’re almost finished!

June brings about so many lovely things. The air smells fresh and clean. The grass is mowed, the flowers bloom. People spend more time outside enjoying nature (or inside, enjoying AC). It truly is a splendid month.

The beginnings of months feel like new chances. New chances to redeem the past month’s shortcomings, perhaps. New chances at embracing things you just weren’t quite able to before. New chances to try out new things, whether they be frightening or not.

And, I am a bit biased because June is also the month in which I was born. Next Thursday, June 8th, I turn 19 years old. Crazy, right? Well, not for the majority of people my grade who turn 20 this year, but oh well, I’m a youngin’. 🙂

My dear friend, Jen, just came home from a week-long trip to France and Italy. Her thousands of pictures made me reminiscent of my own trip to Europe last summer, and gave me major inspiration for this look. Check out her and her friend’s travel pictures here: Jen, Wojtek.

As I mentioned above, the look I am wearing here reminds me of Torino, Italy. It’s a beautiful city in which my brother, Nate, studied for a semester when he was in college. The pictures in the beginning of the post are from my trip there last summer, where I got to experience the magical wonderment of Italy city living.

This bag is a leather half-moon handbag, made in Sorrento, Italy. I picked it up on my European excursion. 100% real leather and 100% adorable. The mustard color can be hard to match sometimes, but I loved the uniqueness of it — I knew I would be hard-pressed to find something like it in the States.

tunic (Baik Baik Honolulu; similar here) – jeans (Old Navy) – booties (Zara; similar here) – bag (L’artigiano Sorrentino: Sorrento, Italy) – sunglasses (Charlotte Russe) – cuff (Haiti artisan from Trades of Hope)

For makeup, I chose a simple peachy shimmer look with some pretty stark highlighter on the cupid’s bow and cheekbones.

Traveling is a wonderful experience. You never know where you might find inspiration from.

I guess I’ll have to plan another trip overseas…

xoxo Maria

Today’s Beautiful You Challenge:

What does the word beautiful mean to you? When are you compelled to use this word to describe someone or something? It is often so difficult to label ourselves as beautiful, but we can easily labels others that way. Understanding what we think to be truly beautiful is an essential step towards believing we, ourselves, are beautiful.

To me, beautiful means in line with God’s purpose. There’s a sense of “this is as it should be, and it’s amazing”. Maximizing a person or things God-given potential. That’s beautiful.
